What is an AAAA record?

An AAAA record is a type of DNS record used for pointing the hostname to a IPV6 address such as (2a00:1450:4009:809::200e).

So if you own example.com and set its AAAA record then you would be updating the DNS record to point to the IP address of the server on which your site is hosted on.

For IPv4 addresses use A records.
